Teeth Whitening
Supervised whitening to lift staining and lighten the natural shade.
Teeth Whitening — treatment details
Whitening lightens the natural shade of the teeth by applying a bleaching agent under a dentist’s supervision. It lifts staining on the surface and within the tooth.

When it’s recommended
When you are unhappy with staining or the general shade of otherwise healthy teeth, and the cause of the discolouration has been checked.
What to expect
We check the teeth and gums first and note the current shade. Whitening is then carried out at the clinic, or with custom trays to use at home, depending on which suits you. The result is compared against the starting shade.
Aftercare
Temporary sensitivity is common for a day or two. Avoid dark food and drink — tea, coffee, cola, red wine — and smoking for the first couple of days, since teeth take up colour most readily while they are freshly whitened.
Common questions
Is teeth whitening safe?
Carried out under a dentist’s supervision, yes. It does not damage the enamel when it is used as directed.
Does whitening hurt?
Some people have sensitivity for a day or two afterwards. Tell us if it is uncomfortable and we will adjust what we use.
How long does whitening last?
It varies with what you eat, drink and smoke. Most people have it reviewed or repeated after a period of months to years.
Will it work on crowns or fillings?
No. Whitening affects natural tooth structure only, so existing crowns and fillings keep their shade. We will discuss this before starting.
